Food Should Taste Good Guacamole Tortilla Chips Review

Today I received a full bag of Food Should Taste Good Guacamole Tortilla Chips.  We had them tonight with some Newmans Own Pineapple Salsa.  (That salsa is Delicious!!!) I was excited to try these chips since they are non GMO, gluten free, trans fat free, and have all around natural healthier ingredients in them.  The chips are nice size tortilla shaped and are dark green.  They did not have a dusting of the guacamole flavor, as the company seemed to put the guacamole right in the chip dough.  They were nice and crispy like any other tortilla would be.  The taste was great but a little spicy.  I don’t mind spicy foods and even my toddler thought these were “yummy”.  Our mouths got that on fire feel to it as we kept eating the chips and we needed our drinks handy.  It didn’t seem like I was depriving myself even though they are a healthier ingredient chip.  In fact, I felt good eating them just because of the ingredients.  The downside is that they are still rather fattening at 6 grams of fat for 10 chips and 130 calories.  Guacamole is a good fat and high in calories so maybe that is the reason.  I would have to try the other flavors to see if they are on the same level of calories and fat.

Stone Ground Corn, High Oleic Sunflower Oil and/or Safflower Oil and/ or Canola Oil, Cilantro, Parsley, Avocado, Serrano Peppers, Coriander, Tomato Powder, Sea Salt, Dried Onion, Dried Garlic, Cumin, Lime Oil, Vinegar, Salt, Red Pepper.
I would recommend these tortilla chips based on the unique flavor and the natural ingredients.  Food Should Taste Good has a variety of chip flavors here.

Life & Food Yacon Syrup 100% Organic Non GMO Review

Today I received Life & Food Brand Yacon Syrup which is organic, raw, and NON GMO.  I tasted it right away. I decided to wait until the next day to make pancakes and add it to the syrup we already have.  The serving size is 1 teaspoon, up to three times a day.

I added about 1 tablespoon of the Yacon Syrup to 1 cup of regular maple syrup.  The taste is sweet on it’s own but I wanted to add the benefits of the yacon to my regular syrup.  There was a little aftertaste to the complete syrup mixture.  It was not bad but it was noticeable.

The next day, I had 1 teaspoon in my morning tea.  It was beautiful tasting in my hot tea.  I couldn’t tell it wasn’t sweetened with sugar.  I do add a little almond milk to my tea as well.

EDIT JULY 6th 2014:  I have used this for over a month for a few days each week.  The main reason for wanting to try yacon syrup was that it helps regulate your bowels better.  I have noticed a positive change in that department.  I won’t go into details but I have had IBS for about 7 years now and it seemed to help.

It is also great for your kidneys, has probiotics, and lowers blood sugar for diabetics.  The amazon page where this was purchased says it has antioxidants.  I googled a little and the top two antioxidants extracted from yacon root is chlorogenic acid and tryptophan.  It is also said that tryptophan helps depression.  Chlorogenic acid is what helps in the blood sugar area.

I think this is a super food.  It should be a staple in vegetarians or vegans for sure.  It definitely should be a part of anyone suffering from diabetes or bowel flare-ups.  It is really easy to use in your coffee or tea every day.  This is a good investment for your health.  I am thankful I found out about Life & Food Yacon Syrup.  I believe it will continually help me obtain optimal health.

Matcha Green Tea Powder by Kiss Me Organics Review

Today I received a 4 ounce bag of Matcha Green Powder Tea by Kiss Me Organics.  You guessed it, it is Organic.  It is culinary grade, so you can add it to drinks, tea, and bakery items. It was darker in color than I was expecting, about this color –> O.
The serving size is 1/2 to 1 tsp.  It says it will give you energy for 4-6 hours both as a stimulant and relaxant.  I was excited to try this because of that statement in the description at Amazon.  I have a hard time with caffeine, as it makes me jittery.  I was worried about using such a potent green tea powder, so I started off with 1/2 teaspoon in my smoothies.  It did not alter the taste of my 12 ounce fruit smoothie at all.  I didn’t notice a huge boost in my energy, but I did notice I didn’t want to take a nap in the middle of the day like I do sometimes with my son.  I made it through a long day with just a 1/2 teaspoon.  I decided that I would not try 1 teaspoon, as the 1/2 teaspoon serving seemed just right for me.  I did not feel jittery at all ever during the day or after I drank my smoothie with the Matcha Green Tea Powder in it.  I like the convenient resealable pouch that it comes in.  I am happy with this product for what I am using it for.  It is too early to tell if it has changed my skin, which it claims it does through improving blood flow and oxygen levels.  If Matcha Green Tea Powder can help with oxygen levels, I am interested in seeing if it will help with my asthma or if it’s just for skin.  This is a good product.  It is made in China.  But here’s what the company has to say about that, directly from their Amazon Q & A:

Our Matcha powder is from China. We did a significant amount of digging beforehand and we found a couple things about Matcha and Matcha drinkers. 1) Is that the price of ceremonial grade Matcha makes every day consumption very expensive and thus prohibitive 2) The radiation in Japan is still a real concern, especially for teas that are consumed through ingesting the whole leaf, of which Matcha is made. We visited and received samples from dozens of farms in China, had them tested for purity and chose the one with the best results. Our goal was to offer a culinary grade Matcha that can be used everyday, is high in antioxidants and will not drain your monthly budget. 🙂 We hope you will try us out for yourself. Thanks again for your interest and if you need anything else, please feel free to contact us via Amazon or through our website’s contact form anytime.

I still recommend using Kiss Me Organics Matcha Green Tea Powder because it is Organic and it did give me a steady, gradual feel of not being exhausted.  I liked that it just felt natural and that I wasn’t on speed or something.  Usually green tea in any form makes me hyper and has a crash at the end.  This product did not do that for me.  I am happy and relieved!  I plan on continuing to use this anytime I have a smoothie, which is a few times a week.  Let’s see how it does on my skin and maybe even my asthma?

Kashi Hummus Crisps – Sea Salt & Olive Oil Review

Today I received a free full size bag of Kashi Sea Salt & Olive Oil Hummus Crisps.  They also came with $1.00 off coupons on Any Two bags of any flavored Kashi Hummus Crisps.
FREE Kashi Hummus Crisps – Sea Salt & Olive Oil and Review
I tried these immediately when they arrived.  I liked the taste right away.  They had the texture of rice chips but these were made from chickpeas.  The sea salt was not caked on which made them so much more tasty. You didn’t need a glass of water to wash down the salt.  I couldn’t really taste the olive oil in the chips, but I am glad they were made with it.  The size was about the same as chips.  This is something you can have a nice handful of and it would satisfy you.  They have a distinct taste and if you love hummus or chickpeas, then these would be right up your alley.  My two year old loved these.  He kept saying, “MORE”, and so I’d give him another.  They were light and fluffy so they were easy for him to chew.  The only thing I didn’t like on the ingredients list was milk.  If they need milk, why not use almond milk to make these even more natural and then even Vegans would eat these!  Milk just doesn’t seem like a good option in a chip to me. Overall, I liked the taste.  This bag of hummus crisps opened me up to a new snack to pick up from time to time.

Lipton Tea & Honey Review

Today I received a free sample from Lipton. They sent me 1 free sample of their new Tea & Honey To-Go packet in Mango Pineapple Flavor. There are 6 flavors to choose from. Lipton also sent me a free coupon for $.50 off any Lipton Tea & Honey To-Go packets or pitcher size. I plan on using it ASAP!

Review of FREE Lipton Tea & Honey, Flavor Mango Pineapple:
I made myself a nice glass of refreshing Mango Pineapple Green Tea & Honey with the packet I received from Lipton. I used a glass big enough for 16 ounces of water, but you can use a bottle of water too. I poured the Lipton packet into the glass BEFORE the filtered water. This helps dissolve it faster when you stir in the water slowly. I put about 10 ice cubes in my mixed up tea and it was perfectly thirst quenching. The flavor of the Mango Pineapple drink was smooth going in. After you swallowed it, there seemed to be more of a lemon flavor. There seemed to be of a hint of Mango Pineapple flavor. I read on the packet it was green tea. I usually stay away from caffeine but thought I’d try it anyway. I noticed that I was pretty energized and in a good mood all day. I drank my glass at noon and I couldn’t fall asleep until 4am. I think someone used to consuming caffeine wouldn’t have this problem.

Free can of Progresso Light Beef Pot Roast Soup & Review

Today I received a FREE can of Progresso Light Beef Pot Roast Soup from Eat Better America AKA LivebetterAmerica.  They are a website full of recipes and coupons for different brands and occasionally send out a free full size sample.

Review of my FREE can of Progresso Light Beef Pot Roast Soup: I tried this soup for lunch and it was kind of bland. I know it is a diet food, or should I say a healthier choice? I think if you are watching what you eat and haven’t indulged in any flavorful food a week before you eat this, it will taste delicious. It’s not horrid, but the full fat soup is much tastier. The pieces of meat reminded me of dog food chunks….sorry Progressive. It is a good try to help your consumers to be less of a lard butt, but I think you should go back and tweak a pinch of flavor into this particular soup.

Review of Crunchmaster Multi-Seed Crackers
I received these Crunchmaster Multi-Seed Crackers to share with my mom friends and family. I loved the fact that they are all natural, gluten free, wheat free, low in saturated fat, and cholesterol free. Eating these made me feel like I was doing my body good. I felt safe munching on more than one serving since they were all natural with a low calorie count. The calorie content of one serving, is 140. Eating these Crunchmaster Multi-Seed Crackers made me feel like I was choosing a healthy snack. I will feed these to my son with cheese on top and will feel that I am serving him a worry free nutritional snack. The taste of these to me was like a sesame seed flavor that was roasted. The  Multi-Seed Crackers were substantially crunchy! I expected that with a brand name like Crunchmaster. I enjoyed the taste. One mom said they were “ok”, and that they wouldn’t buy them, as they were too bland. Another mom shrugged her shoulders and said, “eh”. I told them there were different flavors available in the stores. There is Rosemary & Olive Oil, Roasted Garlic, and Toasted Onion. I personally liked the flavor of the regular cracker and will be getting other flavors to try out of curiosity.  There are a lot of different varieties Crunchmaster Crackers available!  Just look for yourself here! Wow!
