GameTime Arcade and Restaurant in Ybor City Tampa Florida Review with Video

[cjtoolbox name=’Gametime’ ] [/cjtoolbox]

We recently visited an awesome arcade in Tampa Florida called GameTime.  They have so many games and the variety was immense.  There are games for adults all the way down to toddlers.  I took my 4 year old there and he had a blast.  We played the new Terminator game and he did pretty good.  We then played a pirate game where we were shooting some skeletons, and he got a little scared. He got out of the game and said, “That’s enough mommy.”  I thought that the game was a little intense too but was really neat and awesome graphics.  There was some arcade games that resembled a carnival atmosphere.  My son loved those games the most.  The games were all well kept and the lights were vibrant that drew you to them.  You wanted to play them all!  They had a nice selection of prizes you can win from the tickets.  There is also a restaurant and a bar area.  We ordered a cheese pizza and some lemonade.  The pizza was Chicago style and was thick and delicious.

Islands of Adventure Universal Orlando for a toddler Review

We recently went to Islands of Adventure in Orlando Florida.  This is the second park from Universal Studios in Orlando.  It opened in 1999, being the 2nd addition to the Universal Resort.

There are 6 different themed islands inside Islands of Adventure.  If you’re bringing a toddler here, I’ve compiled a list and a printable map for you to use if you want to make sure you see all of the attractions that your toddler can see.

Printable map
I took the Islands of Adventure map from the Universal Studios website and highlighted in green all the attractions for toddlers.  Click the map below and it will blow up to full size and you can print it.

If you are with another adult, you can always use the Switching Off method (a.k.a. “Rider Swap,” “Baby Swap” or “Child Swap”) so that both parents can enjoy the attractions when the child/children do not meet the height requirements. When you approach the ride line, there will be a ride host standing there.  Just tell that person that you want to do the Switching Off method and they will direct you as to what to do from there. Every attraction seems to have a different way of doing it, but the jist is one parent stays behind watching the baby/toddler and the other rides.  When the first parent rider is done riding the attraction, the parent watching the child switches attending the child to the parent that just rode the attraction.  If there is another person in your party, that person can ride with both parents.  Bonus for that person!  The ride attendants will explain how to do this once you are in line.
HINT* Just keep telling all the ride attendants in the whole line that you want to do the Switching Off/Rider Swap method.   This way no one can say you didn’t mention it to the last ride attendant.

Seuss Landing
Your toddler is in luck here.  This land was made for them!

If I Ran The Zoo
Make sure you bring a change of clothes.  The reason is because there are a few play lands that squirt water at the youngsters.  They will get really wet if they are fond of the water areas.

You’re probably wondering why I didn’t highlight the,  “The High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride” in Seuss Landing. This is because your child has to be 40 inches or above.  Most toddlers are about this but I just didn’t want to include this ride in case your toddler is not 40 inches tall.  My son was 36 inches tall and he was unable to ride this attraction, but he could ride the fast and higher Flight of the Hippogriff.  My son and I were disappointed, because the “High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride” clearly is a child’s ride.  I asked the ride attendant why a slower, more kid friendly ride has a height requirement so tall.  The ride attendant told me that it used to be 36 inches or taller, but they were having problems with children getting out from underneath the lap bars while the ride was in motion.  So they had to raise the inches for the safety of the childrens sake.

The rest of the rides are easy slow rides that your toddler will enjoy, especially the “Cat in the Hat” ride.

The Lost Continent
Your toddler will love the Sinbad and Poseidon show.  I’ve found that most toddlers love watching live action shows.  They seem mesmerized by it.

The Mystic Fountain here will squirt water.  It’s not a show or ride, but the fountain will interact with most people.  It will tell jokes and play music.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade
My son just turned three and he was exactly 36 inches.  Use your discretion if you think it may be too fast or high for your child/children.

Flight of the Hippogriff is a roller coaster for children 36 inches or above.  It is located next to Hogwarts Castle.  Adults can ride this coaster too without a child in attendance.

Hogwarts Express – Hogsmeade Station is the train that takes you to Universal Studios.  You cannot board this train without a Park to Park admission ticket.
You can walk through the line to go see the train if you are a die hard Harry Potter fan.  This is the only way you will be able to see the train.  But if you have the Park to Park ticket, you’re in luck!
This train is more than a train, it has a window that you look out of to see the train passing places from the movie.  Watch the door you came in, there are shadows of people standing in the train car and talking, it was really realistic.

Ollivanders is a walkthrough interactive area.  There are no rides in there.  I do not think you can bring your stroller inside either, so be prepared to possibly hold your toddler.  It is dark is some spots to show the interactive parts.

Live Performances seem to entertain the little ones as well as the bigger ones.

Jurassic Park
Pteranodon Flyer’s is a mid height sky ride.  You have to sit separately behind or in front of your toddler.  Make sure he/she will not be scared from this before riding.  The height requirement is only 38 inches so many toddlers can ride this.

Camp Jurassic is an outdoor play area.  It has some water misters in there too.

Jurassic Park Discovery Center is an indoor play area and learning center.  You can pose next to life size dinosaur skeletons here!

Toon Lagoon
Me Ship, The Olive is a boat playground.  It has really beautiful views of the lagoon and the Hulk roller coaster.

For being named Toon Lagoon, it only has this one thing toddlers can play on.  No rides.  The other two water rides you have to be at least 42 and 44 inches.

Marvel Superhero Island
Storm Force Accelatron is the only ride toddlers can ride here.  It’s a twirly one.  The rest of this land is for an older child and adults.  It’s fun to watch the roller coasters though.  Toddler seem to like that too!

Universal Studios has more for a toddler and I’m working on that post as you read this!

This one thing will make using a stroller so much better

Today I received a stroller organizer to review. I received this item as an active blogger from Children ‘n Us in exchange for my honest review.

Stroller-Organizer-2This will make your outings with a stroller so much more organized. Where has this been all my life! This organizer is like a godsend. You have all the must have items right at your fingertips, where you’re pushing the stroller. No more rummaging through your bags to find this or that. I took this stroller organizer with us when we were using the stroller all day. It was like I had an extra set of hands helping me.

If you have a child still in a stroller and if you do not have one of these, you should get one ASAP!

If you have a wheelchair in the family like we do, you also can put this on the back of it. That is also amazing and works perfectly for everyones needs.

You can also put this on the back of your car’s seat, so it’s hangin on the back of it which keeps traveling organized too!

I also saw on their Amazon page a picture of it strapped to a bicycle!

The inside is insulated and has holders for drinks! What what!? You can take the organizer off the stroller (or wheelchair) and take it with you if you have to park your stroller and go inside somewhere, like at amusement parks. These are really great at amusement parks or events. Keeps your wallet, drinks, wipes, sanitizer, keys, phone and whatever else you need immediately, right there in one easy spot!
